ARIA
Intelligent Hair Dryer Concept
Applying a current of hot air directly to one´s head does not sound like such a healthy practice.
Nevertheless, people have used this technique for years to achieve a unique personal style and to express their personality.
The hairstyle has become a statement of who we are and a reflection of the society in which we live. But we have ceded this
creative power to those that possess the skills to handle the tools of the trade from their perspective, in order to create the best
version of our image.
It is time to take control.

Idea exploration.
The right position.
Reaching every side of the head becomes a complicated task due to the fact that the reach needed to use the dryer extends
to the opposite side.
A movement that is restricted to that of a shoulder allows the handling of aria to be easier due to its structure, in comparison with
the traditional form of the current gun-shaped dryer.
With a motor and a design of efficient air flow channels utilizing a passive low-high pressure accelerator, aria has complete freedom of movement.
Its size, weight and wireless design make it portable and it can be operated comfortably with just one hand.
All of aria´s functions can be accessed with a simple movement. Regardless of how the device is picked up or held, the interface locates the initial positions of the hand and the fingers to establish its.
starting point; and from this point it adapts the graphics of the interface and buttons for one´s use.
Aria monitors its current position and will put itself in sleep mode or turn on if it is moved from a stationary position, activating its
screen and functions at the same time.
A flexible touch AMOLED screen fits around the whole outline of aria to allow access to its functions independently of
who or in what position it is being used.
A LiDAR sensor located in the front of aria scans the user´s head to generate a depth map and a three dimensional model in real time, in order to adjust the direction and intensity of the air flow to achieve the desired style. An infrared sensor obtains temperature data from the scalp to adjust the air temperature and balance its settings to obtain an adequate temperature.
This contrasts contemporary hair dryers that adjust the temperature according to the internal temperature of the device.
Aria has three modes:
- Auto
- Manual
-Replica
The automatic mode adjusts the direction, the intensity and the airflow in real time, according to the data obtained by its set of integrated sensors and according to the profile of the selected user. The manual mode allows for temperature adjustment from its touch interface and to control the airflow´s intensity by its pressure sensor that interprets the strength exerted on the user in order to raise or lower the strength. These settings can be saved in the profile of the automatic mode.
Utilizing the integrated accelerometer and gyroscope, the replica mode allows the adjustments and movements to be recorded by a professional stylist as the construct a hairstyle.
Once the information is saved, arial allows the user to replicate the movements through a series of small integrated motors that indicate through vibrations where and how to move the hair dryer around the head, compensating for the direction and air flow with that data obtained by the incorporated sensors.
